Wellies, Reindeer & Waterfalls

We have again taken advantage of our new National Trust memberships by taking a little trip out to Lydford Gorge. Lydford Gorge is the deepest Gorge in South West England and has an absolutely stunning 30m waterfall. There is a three mile round walk through the woods and along the river however we decided to just take the short walk from the Waterfall Tea-Room to the beautiful White Lady Waterfall.

There are two routes down to the waterfall- short and steep, over 400 steps or long and easy, a sloped winding path. We decided to go for the long and easy route down, the path is not really suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs as the terrain is a little rough but luckily I was carrying our littlest so this wasn’t an issue for us. The views from the path looking through the woods and down to the river were just spectacular.

We had a little bite to eat in the tea-rooms before heading out for our walk. I love that a lot of the National Trust restaurants have crayons, pens and colouring pages to keep the little ones amused whilst you enjoy a slice or two of their delicious cakes.

Along the trail there were a number of handcrafted wooden reindeers, we had great fun trying to find them along the way and Willow particularly enjoying patting this one.
